Photoperoxidation of ciprofloxacin antibiotic in aqueous medium using Fe3-XO4-Y-TiO2 particles as catalyst

Conventional treatment processes are not effective in removing micropollutants such as antibiotics and other drugs present wastewater, degradation methods based on advanced oxidative become attractive. Herein, it was synthesized Fe3-xO4-y-TiO2 particles by coprecipitation method they were heat-treated at 100, 400, 800 �C. The obtained solids characterized X-ray diffraction thermogravimetric analysis analytical determinations performed using ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) spectrophotometry. evaluated photoperoxidation the of ciprofloxacin antimicrobial an aqueous solution. studies took place pH 9; with H2O2 concentration 31 mg L�1 particle mass 0.22 g previously defined and, these conditions, percentages between 40 85% observed, removal Photo/H2O2/Fe3-xO4-y-TiO2 kinetic study for this process revealed adjusts to first-order kinetics during 120 min reaction. use catalyst can be attractive potential studied antimicrobial.
